Just How Important Is Cultural Fit?
Recent reports confirm the importance of cultural fit as a top hiring priority – but do you know just how important it is? A 2015 survey conducted by Jobvite found that 88% of recruiters rated “cultural fit” as being very important when evaluating potential employees.
Does your organization currently have a method in place for assessing cultural fit? The New York Times reports that a recent International Survey on Job and Cultural Fit indicates more than 80% of employers name cultural fit as a top hiring priority. Martin Smith, CEO Cubics confirms, “A significant proportion of respondents’ organizations have yet to establish a definition of their culture and do not have robust methods for assessing cultural fit.”
Recruiting can be time consuming and costly to an organization, and according to the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the result of poor culture fit due to turnover can cost an organization between 50% and 60% of the person’s annual salary.
